Punishment of French female collaborators, 1944

At the end of World War II, over 20, 000 French people indicted of collaboration with Germany. French women who assisted the Nazis were having their head shaved by French civilians to publicly mark them. Almost all of them were women. This episode in French history continues to induce shame and unease and as a result has never been a
matter of a thorough examination.
