Invasion of Poland in colored photos, 1939
On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland, one week after the signing of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. United Britain and France had pacts with Poland and had declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939. The Polish army was defeated within weeks of the invasion. The campaign ended on 6 October with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and annexing the whole of Poland. Poland remained under German occupation until January 1945.
