Golden Gate construction site safety
Construction of the famous Golden Gate bridge in the California’s San Francisco has began on January 5th, 1933.
Golden Gate’s chief engineer Joseph Strauss was especially sensitive about the workforce safety. He introduced mandatory hard hats, anti-glare glasses, safety ropes, and hands and face skin lotion to help with the harsh winds and sunlight on the site. Even workers’ diet were designed carefully to prevent dizziness.
