The competition for the workplace for stewardesses in the dawning age of jet transport was so tough, that only three to five of every hundred girls could obtain the job. The demands of the competitors were strict. The girls had to have a composed and self-assured manner, a good personality, a pleasant speaking voice and had completed high school. Also, they had to be between 21 and 26 years old, slender, pretty and unmarried.
