Brasília is the federal capital of Brazil. It was founded on April 21, 1960. The new capital city was ordered by Juscelino Kubitschek, President of Brazil from 1956 to 1961. Brasília was planned and developed by Oscar Niemeyer and Lúcio Costa in 1956 in order to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location. Niemeyer designed the buildings, Lucio- the layout of the city. The construction began in 1957 on the empty place, and just after 4 years, the new capital was officially inaugurated.
