Ardeatine massacre in Rome, 1944

The Ardeatine massacre, also called Fosse Ardeatine massacre was a mass killing that happened in Rome, 1944.

It was performed by the German occupation troops during the Second World War as a reprisal for a partisan attack conducted on the previous day in central Rome against SS Police Regiment Bozen.

The number of victims was 335 Italian prisoners and Jewish civilians.
